Trevor Newbrooks
Sadly Trevor Newbrooks recently lost his struggle to overcome a recent illness.
Brenda and Trevor were introduced to bowling by a dancing friend in 2009.
They both took to the sport and although Trevor was still working at the time soon became an active club member, for several years serving on the club General Management Committee.
He was the current Men's Treasurer, had served two years as the Club Vice Captain and was looking forward to his role of Club Captain for the forthcoming 2017 Season.
Trevor was a competitive bowler and played in both the Kennet and LX Leagues and entered our internal competitions and later County & Nationals.
During the winter period Trevor continued bowling to a high standard at the Rivermead Indoor Bowling Club, even whilst undergoing Chemo & Radio Therapy treatment.
Trevor enjoyed playing bowls in April on the Isle of Wight during the IBC Spring Tour .
It is understood that Trevor had been part of the Scouting Organisation and contributed with canoe training skills.
Trevor was 68 when he died on the evening of Saturday the 10th of June 2017.
His funeral is at 3:15pm on Friday 23rd June, at Reading Crematorium.
Our sincere condolences go to his wife Brenda and his family.

Ken Edinborough
We have just learnt of the passing of Ken Edinborough.
Ken was a very competitive bowler and fully participated in activities on the Island.
He played in 'Friendly Matches' and really enjoyed his bowling as a member of both the Kennet League and LX League teams.
Whenever the Island presented one of its shows or unique pantomimes Ken willingly participated as their general scene builder and backstage lighting technician.
He was a highly skilled carpenter that could turn his hand to general building, plumbing and electrical work.
Ken designed and had built the splendid portable aluminium steps that provide access onto the bowling green to the elderly and infirm. They are still in good condition today.
His hedge cutting skills were truly awesome and he received special commendation in the club newsletter. Indeed perfection was his trademark.
Although Ken was dyslexic he overcame his disability by use of a computer and together with his wife Kim organised a most memorable holiday for club members out to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Before taking up bowling Ken belonged to a Rifle Shooting Club, was a very keen Potholer, and had a strong interest in the Martial Arts.
Ken was forced to reduce his bowling activities as his health slowly deteriorated.
Try as they may neither doctors or hospital could provide cures for his various ailments.
He spent the the last two weeks of life in the care of the Royal Berkshire Hospital.
Ken was 72 when he died on the afternoon of Sunday the 15th of January 2017.
His funeral is at 1:45pm on Monday 6th February, at Reading Crematorium.
Our sincere condolences go to Kim and his family.

John Lambden
Regrettably we have learnt of the passing of John Lambden.
John had a long career in the Army and had served both in Malta & Hong Kong with the Military Police.
He was a man of high principles and embarked on education studies for self improvement. John achieved the rank of Warrant Officer, which is one of the most senior non-commissioned soldier ranks in the British Army.
He was a keen sportsman and went on to become a Football Referee.
John was also interested in art and took up drawing and painting.
Together with his wife Monica, he came to the Island around 1990 and was a very competitive bowler. Later he became Club Instructor to the Island.
His dedication and interest in bowls led him to hold the key position of Club General Secretary for a number of years.
He was also an active member and Bowls Instructor to Rivermead Indoor Bowling Club.
As their Secretary he instigated the ‘The Secretaries Cup’, a competition between ‘outside clubs’ playing on an indoor green.
In 2004 John became President of the Island Bohemian Club.
He also held the post of President of the Berkshire County Indoor Bowls Association.
After the death of his wife Monica, John moved to the south coast for a number of years before returning to Reading.
John was 84 when he died early on the morning of Sunday 1st of January 2017.
His funeral is at 11:15am on Friday 27th January, at Reading Crematorium (in the West Chapel).
