Another one of the Island’s elder statesmen – Ivor Nix,
has sadly passed on.
Ivor had played a lot of cricket in his youth had also been in the RAF.
He was always known as a quiet gentleman, really loved the Island and had been the Club Captain for more than one season.
In the years 1998 & 1999, he was our Club President.
Ivor was 85 when he passed away on Monday 17th of December 2012.
His funeral is on Friday 4th January, at Reading Crematorium, at 1pm.
Our sympathies to his wife Joyce and family.
Sadly we have to report the passing of another old friend – John Corderoy.
John was a good club member and a well respected bowler, regularly playing for our Kennet and LX Leagues.
He was always very good company and a person that was a pleasure to bowl with.
John was 79 when he died on on Tuesday 11th of September 2012.
His funeral is on Monday 24th September, at Reading Crematorium, at 1:45pm.
Our sincere condolences to Jeanie and her family.

Message from Michael
Michael would like to say thank you all for the
many cards, calls and wishes that he and Jackie
received during the period of her illness and
following her death. They were all so very much
The service was sympathetically conducted by a former Island bowler, the very Revd. Marion Pyke.
Thanks go to all of the bowlers of the Island Bohemian & Rivermead Clubs and the many friends that
had attended Jackie's funeral.
With deep regret we must report the passing of Jackie Prior.
Jackie, along with Mike, join the island in
1998 and Jackie quickly volunteered for most
things be it "teas", bar or as a marker. She was
also a great support to Mike when he took on the
onerous tasks of Hon. General Secretary.
As a bowler, Jackie improved year by year to the
point where in 2007 (along with Carole Waters)
they were runner-up in The County Pairs. This
gave Jackie the County Points she needed and
2008 she was awarded her County Badge.
In 2011 Jackie was the Ladies Vice Captain but,
sadly, her health did not let her fulfil her
duties as she would have liked.
She was active helping with Social events and also organized Karaoke evenings with her Son.
Jackie fought for her life in the RBH but sadly this came to an end at 3.15pm on Friday 24th February 2012.
We send our condolences to Jackie's family and to Mike.
Her funeral is on Tuesday 6th March - Reading
Crematorium at 2:30 pm.
