Bowlers - Boaters Day
We have just learnt of the passing of Barrie Peaple.
He joined the IBC in 2004 with two years playing experience gained at Snitterfield, Warwickshire
and for another four years enjoyed bowling with us.
Barrie remained a Social member, accompanying his friend Angela on the annual Spring Tours and at other club functions.
More recently Barrie did not have good health and sadly declined rapidly after Christmas.
At 2:30pm on Saturday the 27th of August 2016 Barrie died peacefully in his bed.
He had very nearly reached his 88th birthday.
His funeral is at 11:30am on Wednesday 14th September, at the English Martyrs Catholic Church, Reading.
Our sincere condolences go to his family.
I am pleased to announce the return of this ever popular event
on Sunday 25th of September when we share a day with the TVCC Boaters.
Please place your name on the list in the clubhouse to avoid disappointment.
The format is VERY casual and should
follow these timings: -
10:00 Bowling begins
13:00 Light lunch in the clubhouse
14:30 Boat trip to Mapledurham Lock
16:00 Return to the clubhouse for tea and cakes
Bring a bottle of wine.
Water-wings and Qwell tablets optional, hangover remedies essential.
Regrettably we have learnt of the passing of Michael Prior.
He joined as a bowler with his wife Jackie in 1998 and went on to gain his County Badge as losing semi finalist in the 'Unbadged' competition.
As a member of both Kennet League and LX League teams he enjoyed his bowling and served the Men's Section as Treasurer and also an LX 'A' Captain.
For a number of years Mike held the key position of our Club General Secretary.
He was also an active member of the Rivermead Indoor Bowling Club.
Michael did not enjoy robust good health and had undergone a number of operations.
More recently it was sadly necessary for Michael to become a regular visitor to the Royal
Berkshire Hospital and was admitted 'under observation' at the time of his passing.
Michael was 79 when he died on the morning of Friday 3rd of June 2016.
His funeral is at 2:30pm on Monday 20th June, at Reading Crematorium.
Our sincere condolences to his family.
Following the very recent Women’s Junior International trials, Morgan has been selected
as a Travelling Reserve for the British Isles W.B.C. series at Brigend B.C. Wales.
